Ramadhan Mubarak

Ramadhan Mubarak!

God willing everyone will use this month to bring themselves closer to God and to broaden their understanding of themseleves and others.
I'm going to try to not gain weight this Ramadhan but I'm sure I will fail as I always do..
Be sure to check out Tariq Ramadan's new article regarding the Pope quotation controversy.

The human body is an amazing creation by Allah...the reason you can actually gain weight during Ramathan is quite simple. Since you go the whole day without eating, your body is in a "starvation/un-fed" state where it has to create its own source of energy (glucose) in the liver to keep you functioning. Your stored energy units (such as fats) are also broken down to help with the lack of fuel (food). So once Iftar comes around and you basically binge eat, your body is like "whoa look at all this food and energy units (glucose), we better store some extra, because this crazy person keeps starving himself throughout the day." Extra stores of energy = weight gain! Now you can explain this to others how Ramathan can make you actually gain weight.
